Rajput Shital Laxmanshinh

I am Rajput Shital Laxmanshinh. I come from an Economically weaker section of the society. My father is a farmer and also maintains milch animals to supplement the family income. I have one brother & three sisters. My mother also assists my father in agriculture work.

I am totally blind since birth & my parents tried their best to restore the eyesight which was unsuccessful. I was advised that there are no possibilities of regaining the eyesight. However, all my siblings are fortunate to have normal eyesight.

I studied up to standard 10th at my native place Aithor of Mehsana district. There were no facilities for further studies at Aithor and as such, I came to Manthan in 2009 to further my studies. I completed 3rd-year B.A. with Gujarati in 2015.

Thereafter I enrolled myself for three years course of Classical Music and also Computer Science. I also did small duration courses in Anchoring & Scientific Massage Therapy.

At present, I am working at Manthan as Computer Teacher and Music Teacher.

Even though my eyesight is weak, I am able to take care of myself, move around in Manthan without the help of anybody.

My hobbies are traveling and I enjoy my job.

I am thankful to Manthan, Mamaji, Didi and Other Co-students who enabled me to achieve my dreams and be a part of the society without being a burden to my parents. I am even able to help them financially.

I am sure in absence of Manthan and love/encouragement/support that I got at Manthan, my life would have been utterly miserable. I pray God that all my sisters who come to Manthan for their studies may get success in their life.

Mitalben Kantilal Parmar

My name is Mitalben Kantilal Parmar. I belong to an economically weaker section of the society. Our financial situation was very bad at the time of my birth and thereafter

I got an attack of polio when I was 2 years old at a place where medical treatment was not available. The doctor could not help me. The effect of polio divested my life and since that age, I am not able to stand up on my own. I need support and help for my movements.

My father is a retired teacher. I have two brothers & one sister. My mother is a housewife.

I studied up to standard 11 at my native place Valam of Mehsana district. However, as there were no facilities for further studies at Valam, in the year 2000 I was admitted to Manthan & studied there for five years and became graduate and got a degree of B.A.

Thereafter I returned to my native place and as my father was reluctant and I myself was not much inclined to prosecute my studies, I discontinued my education.

However, I had a deep sense of belonging to my family and wanted to help them. I, therefore, started sewing & embroidery work at my home but this did not satisfy me …. I started a small business of Grocery Shop. I keep stock of various items of daily use from Pen to Piano.

My business is quite flourishing and running smoothly giving me enough income. With the help of the income from my business, we could get constructed a new house and living standard of our family has improved a lot.

I am thankful to Manthan, Mamaji, Didi & Other Co-students who enabled me to achieve my dreams and be a part of society without being a burden to my parents.

In Gujarat, every district has a forum for divyang persons as per the requirement of Government of Gujarat & I am fortunate & proud to state that I have been elected as President of such forum for the district of Mehsana for the year 2019 onwards.

Abeda

I am a divyang girl since the age of 9 months. I got an attack of fever & village doctor gave me an injection which instead of curing presented me with a life long suffering Polio.

I belong to the Muslim Community and my name is Abeda. I stay at village Haiderpura of District Patan of Gujarat state.

I have two brothers and one sister. I am the only one suffering from polio.

My father, even 35 years ago, believed in girls education and admitted me to a school in our village where I studied up to standard seventh. Thereafter I further studied up to standard 11th in a nearby village school. My father wanted me to study further but there were no facilities. However, my luck favored me and my father came to know about Manthan.

In the year 2000; I enrolled in Manthan and completed my B.A. Manthan has all the facilities for prosecuting studies such as conducive environment, guidance, lodging-boarding facilities and love/affection which prompted me to fulfill my ambition of furthering my career.

I returned to my village in 2005 and joined a school as a teacher where I worked till 2012. Thereafter I got trained as a nurse and joined our community hospital.

At Manthan where I was the ONLY MUSLIM GIRL, I was allowed to follow my religion. I never felt any discrimination due to my alternative Muslim Religion. I am proud to be a member of Manthan Family which made my life & provided opportunities to be a part of the mainstream; as also help my parent financially.
