Manthan also supports sports and cultural activities. DIVYANG GIRLS are taught music, dance, drama, and are also encouraged to take part in various sports activities so that their self-confidence is rekindled and they become eligible to take part in the state, national and international level sports competitions.
Our Divyang girls have participated in Chalo Gujarat events at New Jersey, USA in the years 2006, 2008, and 2012 and received standing ovations from about 30,000 visiting Gujaratis. They even secured the first rank at the first Kankariya festival organized by Municipal corporation Ahmadabad in 2016. Other Divyang girls have participated in many sports events at national and international level and secured bronze, silver and gold medal.
One mentally challenged girl; Miss PAYAL THAKAR, who was admitted to Manthan at the age of 4 years and when she was required to be kept in chains; improved to such a level that she now studies in Std. 10 along with normal children.
SHE DEVELOPED INTEREST IN VOLLY BALL AND WAS SELECTED AS A PART OF INDIAN TEAM OF 2016 REPRESENTING INDIA AT LOS ANGELES, USA AT THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR DISABLED PERSONS.
